The Trustees

Terre des hommes UK (Tdh UK) is managed by its Trustees, who make decisions on its future strategy and management. Collectively as the Board of Trustees, they are responsible for good governance, and making sure that Tdh UK’s programmes are appropriate, successful, and realise the objectives of the charity.

The first Trustees include those based in London and Switzerland. They have been selected on the basis of their knowledge of Tdh and their agreement with its principles, their experience and skills set, and their commitment to the success of Tdh UK.

Peter Aylmer

Peter is Chair of Tdh UK. His career was spent in the education service in England, starting as a teacher, but later including senior roles in local, regional and national education organisations. Now retired, he also writes magazine articles and guidebooks on walking in Britain.

Istiaque Ahmed

Istiaque serves as the Treasurer for Tdh UK. He is a qualified accountant and also has extensive experience of charity fieldwork in south Asia.

He has been Director General of the Terre des hommes foundation since December 2012.

He is currently Director of Institutional Partnerships for the Tdh Foundation and has held many other positions, including posts in Bangladesh, Morocco and Colombia. He was also an advisory expert supporting "Swiss Solidarity", the largest private humanitarian aid donor in Switzerland, from 2002 to 2009.

Currently, Dee works as an independent safeguarding consultant, providing consultancy and training services within the UK and internationally.
